Five Pots of Prosperity and Abundance
Paligai (பாலிகை) or Paaligai is a beautiful pre-wedding ritual where five earthen pots are filled with nine different types of grains or seeds and arranged decoratively. The ritual is performed to seek blessings for a fruitful and prosperous married life.
Five earthen pots are filled with different grains or seeds: rice, wheat, Bengal gram, green gram, black gram, sesame, corn, horsegram, and barley. Each pot is decorated nicely.
The paligai pots are worshipped by married women (sumangalis) from both families. They perform aarti, offer flowers, and sing traditional songs. The pots remain in place for the duration of the wedding ceremonies, serving as a divine presence and constantly invoking blessings for the couple.
This ritual connects the couple to their cultural heritage and invites divine blessings into their union, representing important values that form the foundation of a blessed marriage.
We ensure all required items are procured and properly arranged for this ceremony. We coordinate with the priest and family members to ensure proper timing and execution according to your family's traditions.
